This bathroom was originally designed with a single-occupant shower stall and typical plumbing hardware. We redesign the shower to fit two persons, featuring luxurious, individual deluge shower heads and separate temperature controls. The shower also features a comfortable granite corner seat to facilitate easy leg shaving and relaxation. The use of a half wall for two sides of this neo-angle shower allows in natural light and creates an open atmosphere, eliminating the dark & confined feeling of the original shower. The glass panels are precision installed on granite top framing for an excellent water tight seal, and the large pivot-hinged, self-centering shower door makes for easy access.
The use of large format tiles for the shower, installed up to the ceiling, reduces the damaging effects of moisture. The granite and tile choices are complimented with a Bizaza accent tile detail incorporated into the shower walls. These tiles give the shower space both a point of visual interest and a splash of calming color.
The shower floor was finished with pebble tile giving users feet that massage feeling of a spa. In keeping with the home-spa theme, heated towel racks are mounted on the wall opposite the shower, ensuring the users towels are warm and waiting after a shower. At Michaud Enterprises we like to use granite casements on our shower designs for both their clean look and because this method is by far the best way to guarantee a water-tight seal and perfect fit for frameless glass panels and doors.
The floor of the bathroom was done in a tile plank, which simulates the look of wood, but with the moisture protection of tile. We chose a light finish for the floor color to keep the over all bathroom bright, but also to contrast with the rich mahogany vanities, which feature deep rectangle shaped sinks that facilitate added space under the faucet.
Another of Michaud Enterprises trademark designs is the privacy half wall around the toilet. This elegant solution provides both privacy and functionality to this area frequently missed by many builders. For this large bathroom, an elongated toilet with comfortable height fit perfectly with the scale of the project.
